Sisal, Jute and Seagrass Carpet Cleaning
Sisal, Jute and Seagrass carpets and rugs are made from hard, natural vegetable fibers. These fibers do not attract dust and bacteria cannot penetrate the fibers, making them a highly preferred kind of carpet, especially for allergy sufferers. However, these kinds of carpets can be a bit trickier to maintain – they benefit most from regular, consistent maintenance and they are hygroscopic, meaning they absorb moisture and give off moisture. They should not be placed in damp environments or where spills are more likely to occur. Quality Care Cleaning has the experience and knowledge to properly deep clean these types of carpets and rugs, taking into account their unique characteristics and nature.

~How to Care for your Sisal, Jute or Seagrass Rug/Carpet~
Vacuum your entire rug on a regular basis with a strong brush suction vacuum – try to avoid using a beater bar on your vacuum. If unavoidable, put the beater bar on the highest setting.
Clean up spills immediately. Use a white cloth to absorb as much liquid as possible.
Use as little water as possible on this type of carpet. If using water to clean up a spill, dry the carpet quickly after cleaning the spot, preferably with a hair dryer or fan.
DO NOT SATURATE the carpet. This may cause irreversible water damage and warping of the fibers, as well as possible staining from what lies beneath.
Avoid the sun! UV rays can damage the fibers by prolonged direct exposure.
Place protection under furniture legs when placing on top of your rug, as it may squash the fibers leaving dents.
Rotate your rug and, if possible, your furniture. Keeping the same placements of the room can create pressed pathways in a permanent pattern.
Professionally clean your rug at least every 2 to 3 years, more if in a high traffic area.
DID YOU KNOW?
The short, natural vegetable fibers that make up Sisal, Jute and Seagrass carpet have been known to ‘sprout’ over time? This is perfectly normal and okay. However, DO NOT pull at the ‘sprout’. Instead, use scissors to clip the sprout even with the pile – THIS WILL NOT HARM YOUR CARPET.
Low Moisture 6-Step Cleaning Process
Step 1: Pre-Inspection and Pick up. Photos of your rug are taken and reviewed during a pre-cleaning inspection (if needed) and communicated to you for review and resolution of any concerns. We will outline the expected results and cleaning. Quality Care Cleaning will come to your home and pick up your rug, you may drop it by our office, or we can clean it in your home.
Step 2: Dry Soil Removal. The process usually begins with thorough vacuuming to remove loose dirt and debris
Step 3: Dry Cleaning Process. The carpet is cleaned using an all natural cleaning solution for natural fibers that is lightly sprayed into the fibers, then extracted out of the fibers with a low moisture cleaning process.
Step 4: Spot Cleaning. We will perform a more aggressive cleaning for any visible stains or spots that remain.
Step 5: Drying. The carpet is thoroughly dried using specialized equipment to extract water and optimize the drying process, including the use of high capacity dryers.
Step 6: Post Inspection and Delivery. Our cleaning specialist will give the rug a final inspection. If for pick up or delivery, your rug will be wrapped to protect it from dust and environmental soils until it is picked up or delivered.

When we are finished with cleaning your rug, you will become a member of the Quality Care Cleaning family. We promise to “keep in touch” with you throughout the year with helpful cleaning tips and newsletters.
