Hand-knotted and woven rugs can hold significant amounts of hidden dry soil within their fibers. Our specialized rug cleaning process begins with thorough soil removal using advanced techniques such as pile lifting, controlled vacuuming, and detailed dusting from both sides of the rug. This essential step prepares the rug cleaning for a deep cleaning and helps achieve the best possible results while preserving its craftsmanship and appearance.

Each rug receives a customized pre-treatment based on its fibers and soil conditions to safely dissolve buildup and prepares it for the next rug cleaning step.

Specialized cleaning solutions are applied to help loosen and lift stubborn stains, while delicate fringe (if applicable) is carefully cleaned using dedicated tools and techniques designed for proper care. If needed, minor fringe or binding repair is available. Additional fees may apply.  

Each rug undergoes a careful colorfastness test before rug cleaning to protect its dyes and ensure the safest rug cleaning process possible.
We then use a specially formulated Oriental Rug Shampoo designed to safely remove soil and buildup while preserving the beauty and integrity of sensitive rug fibers.

Based on the rug’s fiber type, construction, and condition, we determine the most appropriate rinsing method. Rugs may be carefully rinsed using specialized extraction equipment on both sides or receive a complete wash in our dedicated Rug washing pit. This detailed process is often recommended for rugs with deep-set pet staining or persistent odors. If additional rug wash pit treatment is needed, your technician will discuss the process and any applicable costs during your consultation or at pickup.

Once the rug cleaning process is complete, rugs are dried using controlled methods, either flat or hanging, in a temperature-managed environment. Proper drying is a critical step in preventing shrinkage and preserving the beauty and structure of your rug.

The final step includes careful grooming with soft specialty rug groomers to align the fibers and restore the rug’s refreshed appearance.

Once your rug has completed our cleaning process, our specialists conduct a detailed final inspection before preparing it for pickup or delivery. To protect your rug until it returns to your home, it is carefully wrapped to help prevent exposure to dust and environmental contaminants. Upon delivery, our team will position your rug for you.
